The 2018 Stockholm Mean Machines are Returning to Greatness

It has been a while, but the Stockholm Mean Machines are back! After a few rough seasons, the Mean Machines returned to their winning ways and made the Super Serien playoffs last year. In 2018, the team hopes to build on that momentum and compete for the title.

Experienced quarterback Anders Hermodsson will lead the Mean Machines offense for a second consecutive season.

His new favorite target will be the American Import receiver, Matthew Retzlaff. Between these two athletes there are sure to be some exciting plays for Stockholm this season. Retzlaff brings more than just dynamic play in his journey to Sweden, he prides himself of sharing his knowledge of the game to his teammates.

Stockholm has worked very hard on increasing athletic ability this off-season, and looks to show off the hard work on the field as early as March when the team travels to Finland to play the Helsinki Roosters. Head Coach Fredrik Pilbäck believes competing with the 6-time Maple League Champions will give the Mean Machines an idea of how far they have come on the road to being one of the best teams in Europe. The Mean Machines are excited about the challenge, but are not afraid by any means.

Fredrik Pilbäck has explained that defensive lineman Malcom Engström will be a major factor for Stockholm’s defensive presence all season. He is coming off an MVP performance in Sweden’s National Team win against Great Britain. Another player worth mentioning is defensive back Omar Fall who is expected to be a huge playmaker on both defense and special teams for the Mean Machines.

Quarterback Anders Hermodsson is very optimistic about the Stockholm Mean Machines chances, his words not mine:

One of the biggest additions to this year’s team is our new OC, Fred Armstrong, he has tons of experience from all levels of football, NFL, College, and Europe. His knowledge and experience will help us take the next steps towards the championship. The organization has done a good job of adding talent too, so the whole team is very optimistic about the upcoming season.

Newcomer Matthew Retzlaff is very excited about his rookie season with the Stockholm Mean Machines:

It is a tremendous honor to be playing for the Stockholm Mean Machines, and I am both grateful & blessed for the opportunity I was given. My goal is to run down the field, catch the ball, score touchdowns, and have fun with my teammates.
